Give a brief summary of the story. Her name is Sally Davies and she is a BMX biker.



2. Infer
What kind of a person is Sally Davies? Sally likes racing around the track and she likes competing in individual sports.Tell why you think this. It says in the book.



3. Evaluate
Explain why you think the author entitled the story as “Pumping Pedals” Because its about bike racing.

4. Think about it
Why do you think Sally would like to attract more girls to the sport of BMX racing? Because she is the only twelve year old girl racing bikes.



5. Recall
How are the bikes designed and what are they made of?
It’s made of aluminum,titanium or carbon fiber.

6. Think about it.
Why did Sally groan as she remembered her first racing bike? It was a freestyle bike and heavy and it had huge tires.

7. Please explain the racing technique called “pumping” and why it might be important?
"Pumping Pedals" It is when a rider uses gravity to help them go faster

8. Do you think BMX racing is a dangerous sport.It’s not Tell why or why not you think this. Because you wear safety gear.




9. Synthesize

Please tell what you liked most about the story and why or why not you would like to be a BMX racer. I liked the bit about the racing and the jumps.I would like to be a BMX rider because it sounds fun.
